What are “Windgates”

What are windgatesWhat are “Windgates”?

In Chinese medicine, wind (or “feng:”) and cold are two external causes of disease. Some of your “windgates” are located on the front and back of your neck.  These are points of entry and exit for cold and wind.  If your neck is exposed to cold, your immune system can be compromised and your are more likely to get sick.  So listen to your mothers and wear a scarf.

“Keep your neck covered.” That is what our mothers always said when it was cold outside.  As the bitter winter temperatures approach, wearing a scarf or other protection on your neck is very important.
