On October 29, 2016, in downtown Raleigh, the North Carolina Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCAAOM) hosted its first-ever Awareness Walk for Acupuncture. Participants wore t-shirts with a logo that said “Acupuncture: The Best Answer To Pain.” Proceeds from the 5K Walk-a-Thon fundraiser will be used to increase public awareness of the profession, promote insurance coverage for patients, and to protect our profession’s scope of practice.
NCCAOM is also starting an Ambassador Program for acupuncture patients with an interest in supporting NCCAOM’s efforts to increase insurance and Medicare/Medicaid coverage for acupuncture services and to improve coordination between traditional health facilities and alternative medicine. If you are interested in joining the Ambassador Program, please visit the NCCAOM home page at http://www.ncaaom.org.
